MALAWI, TANZANIA TIES KEY TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT – PRESIDENT CHAKWERA  

His Excellency the State President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, says Malawi will continue fostering meaningful trade and economic ties with Tanzania in order to realize mutual benefits for both populations.

The President said this on Thursday when he officially welcomed the new Tanzania High Commissioner, His Excellency Humphrey Polepole, who presented his letters of credence at Kamuzu Palace.

The Malawi leader stated that Malawi will continue fostering meaningful ties with Tanzania to open new opportunities to our citizens in particular and national economies in general.

“Tanzania remains a key ally for Malawi mainly because of shared interests in economy, trade, investment, education and culture among other areas of human undertaking. Our neighborliness has become a social capital through which our people continue to thrive,” said President Chakwera on his official social media platforms.

He noted the significance of the trade route that exists between the two economies.  

“The vast import and export corridor that connects the two economies continues to offer job and wealth creation opportunities to citizens and businesses from both ends. These are just some of the mutual benefits that motivate all of us to keep this relationship sound and growing,” he wrote.

During their deliberations, High Commissioner Polepole assured President Chakwera and the people of Malawi that he is geared to develop and nurture the existing strong relations in line with respective development goals of the two countries.
